Indonesia’s Taekwondo Won 3 Medals in US Open Taekwondo Championship 2013
Universal Taekwondo Indonesia Pro (UTI Pro) athletes won three medals, one silver medal and 2 bronze medals, on US Open Taekwondo Championship. This championship was held on 19-23 February 2013, in Las Vegas, USA. There were around 70 countries participated in this championship.
The Silver Medal was presented by National Taekwondo athletes, Rahadewineta and Satriyono, in the category Pairs Poomsae Second Senior, for the age above 29 years old. Meanwhile, two bronze medals were presented by Domas Ayu Kirana, Rahadewineta and Christina Agung Intan, in the category Female Team and also presented by Daniel Danny Harsono in the category Poomsae Men’s Single First Senior (18-29 years old).
For this championship, UTI Professional sent 9 Taekwondo athletes and 4 Official and Instructor. All the athletes are the representatives from Yayasan Universal Taekwondo Indonesia (YUTI) dan UTI Pro. In the category Kyorugi, the two athletes, Herlambang from Lampung and Jason Hornay from East Nusa Tenggara, gave a fierce fight in the first round and achieved the victory through knockout. However, they got lost in the third round.
Meanwhile, Lessitra Raningrati, the athlete from Central Java was supposedly to participate in the category Female Team. However, she got injured on her thigh when she just arrived in Las Vegas. Rahadewineta finally replaced her on the game.
According to the team manager, Suwandi Gunawan, their achievement was already maximum, given to the fact that US Open is a prestigious international event where 70 countries participated and this game also part of the official calendar event of World Taekwondo Federation.
